1st Tuesday of each month
In 1988, local resident Mimi Howland had an idea to start a group of newly arrived residents in Oceanside to unite for social and cultural activities. After meeting with Pat Elledge, the two women gathered 13 of their friends and neighbors and held the first meeting in April under the guidance of Welcome Wagon.
In March 1996 this group changed their name to Oceanside Newcomers & Friends. We now host members from neighboring cities throughout North County, San Diego including Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, San Marcos, Vista, Fallbrook and Escondido. Many former members who have left our area have remained members while living in other US states.
There are presently 168 members in Oceanside Newcomers & Friends!
This fiscal year will mark the 31th anniversary of our organization.
Our mission is to provide newcomers to the Oceanside area as well as those who have lived in the area for many years an opportunity to forge new and lasting friendships, while participating in fun social activities including luncheons, games, day trips, sport activities and social gatherings. We also provide assistance to local charitable funds as well as provide our members with assistance when they are in need of help
